Job overview

At Christ Church New Malden CofE Primary School, we are looking for a passionate class teacher to deliver a high standard of lessons while successfully nurturing and inspiring our students and to lead and inspire our Early Years Team. As part of our energetic and welcoming team, you will enthuse and motivate students to strive for success while maintaining a healthy learning environment for all children within the school.

Why choose us:

Founded over 150 years ago, by the local church that shares its name, Christ Church sits in the heart of a warm and happy community. The school is located on two sites where each site (Infants and Juniors) focuses on the unique needs of its age group; a two-form intake school that is small enough to be intimate, but large enough to create planning teams in order to share insights and expertise. Our school is often described by parents as a ‘village school’ and we have a school dog, Eddie, and two micro pigs, Dotty & Truffle, as well as a wildlife garden and a playing field.

Christ Church is an outstanding Church School where the Christian values on which it is founded “unite and inspire both adults and learners.” SIAMS. In our Ofsted, June 2017, the school was graded as good overall and the report stated that “You have nurtured a calm and purposeful environment for learning, characterised by caring relationships between pupils and staff."

We pride ourselves on our strong ethos of inclusion and diversity and are a UNICEF Rights Respecting School. Our school community is committed and fully engaged: our wonderful Parent Teacher Association work tirelessly and successfully to fundraise and the governors who are constructive and positive; we enjoy strong links with many local churches with clergy leading assemblies once a week.

We can offer you a setting that is committed to empowering both children and adults to ‘Become the people God made us to be’ with excellent career prospects for teachers who wish to develop to be leaders of the future and very close links with neighbouring schools for training and sharing of ideas.

What we offer:

  • A school that is fully focussed on developing every child to reach their full potential, irrespective of their ability.
  • A dedicated and friendly team of professionals who are keen to develop and learn.
  • Pupils whose enjoyment of their learning "was tangible during visits to lessons”- Ofsted.
  • Excellent career prospects for teachers who wish to develop to be leaders of the future.
  • Excellent CPD opportunities to grow and develop through mentorship and coaching.
  • Collaborative working with neighbouring schools for training and sharing of ideas.
  • Free wrap around care for staff who have children at the school.

The right candidate will have:

  • Detailed knowledge of the curriculum and its means of delivery.
  • High standards of communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work in a team.
  • The ability to work towards deadlines.
  • The ability to motivate both students and your peers.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Experience innovating to deliver the curriculum

Potential candidates for this role are warmly invited to visit the school or to contact the Headteacher for an informal conversation.

Strong candidates may be contacted for an early interview on Thursday 26th May so do please apply early

About Christ Church New Malden CofE Primary School

Christ Church New Malden is a Voluntary Aided, Church of England Primary School, maintained by the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and the Diocese of Southwark. We are a two form entry primary school with nursery for pupils aged 3 to 11.

The Infant and Junior departments are on separate sites a short walk away from each other (in Lime Grove and Chestnut Grove respectively) and the school also has a large playing field close to the Junior Department. Several members of staff work across both sites, with others taking the opportunity to move from one key stage to another.

The pupil population is very diverse with approximately 31% of children with English as an Additional Language; the School enjoys and benefits from a rich range of cultures and languages within its community; there is, in particular a large and supportive Korean community, locally.

There is a breakfast and after-school club for children from both sites at the Infant site school run by our own staff  There are also a large number of extra-curricular clubs and sports and music groups many of which are run by school staff.

At the end of their primary education, the pupils move on to a large number of different secondary schools, including the selective grammar schools, in the local area. Our children are enthusiastic about learning, have good relationships with each other and the staff of the school. Staff are committed, hard-working and highly professional; all staff are valued and there are good working relationships across the school. Parents are supportive and there is a busy and effective Parent Teacher Association. The school is popular and well-regarded in its local community. The governors are closely involved with the school in a constructive and positive manner.
