Job overview

Our Early Years Educator (Childcare) qualification was introduced in September 2013. We offer the CACHE level 3 qualification, with students attending the College for 3 days and their work placement for the remainder of the week. It is a two-year course with one group of students in each year.

You must hold a recognised assessor qualification and have previous relevant employment experience in an early years setting. Good communication and organisational skills are also essential along with a flexible and pro-active approach.

The work will involve travelling to placements, mainly in the Scarborough, Whitby and Bridlington areas. You will therefore need a current driving licence with access to a car insured for business use.

This is a fixed term position, however, may become permanent if student recruitment continues to flourish.

Working times can be arranged flexibly provided the needs of the role are met.   The contract is on a fixed term basis starting as soon as the successful candidate is available and finishing July 2019. A further contract may be available for the next academic year

Please ensure you use the Supporting Statement of the Application Form to explain how your skills, experience and attributes make you suitable for the post. Please do not include a C.V.

Interviews are provisionally arranged for Wednesday 14th November 2018

College Overview

Scarborough Sixth Form College is an open-access College, which provides general education primarily for 16-19 year olds in the area. The majority of our 1000+ students are full-time, and follow Advanced (level 3) courses from which most progress onto Higher Education.  The College has developed a very successful vocationally-related provision in a range of BTEC Nationals and we also offer a one-year Level 2 programme (our “Progression Year”) consisting of GCSEs in Maths, English and Science plus a range of BTEC Firsts.  Achievement at the College is high, and above national benchmarks, with outstanding positive value-added overall.  The College had an Inspection in December 2019 and was confirmed as a Good provider.

The College provides a pleasant environment in which to work, being set in attractive grounds on the edge of town. College campus facilities have been enhanced by almost £5 million investment. Scarborough itself offers an attractive coastline and beaches and is situated on the edge of the North York Moors, within easy reach of the City of York.
