Job overview

British Early Years Centre is a small International and boutique kindergarten in the heart of Bangkok. We follow the British Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum with a Reggio Emilia approach to learning. The school itself is a lush, green and calming oasis in the centre of the city that makes use of natural materials as much as possible. We are committed to reducing, and eventually removing all plastics from the school. We are environmentally conscious, using and customising natural resources for teaching thus making learning experiences beautiful and unique. Bespoke and recycled Loose Parts are used in the classrooms and outdoor play areas to nurture creativity and encourage open-ended and collaborative play.

The school’s underlying philosophy is ‘Balance’.  Balancing the acquisition and application of knowledge and skills with creativity, balancing child-led play and teacher-led play as well as balance in the menu that we offer the children (and teachers). All food and snacks are freshly cooked each and every day and all ingredients used are healthy, nutritious, 100% organic and gluten-free.

The successful applicant would need to be either NQT or have QTS with Early Years experience. Applicants with Phonics teaching experience will be given more consideration for the role and must be able to effectively plan for 3 differentiated groups based on regular assessment. The applicant must be happy to work in a classroom with no more than 16 children, teach in groups with no more that 6 children and be able to manage two other highly trained and fluent English speaking assistant teachers.

As a newcomer, unfamiliar with Bangkok you can expect a vibrant multicultural Asian city. Contemporary and progressive in many more ways than the UK yet still rich in culture and tradition. The city offers an amazing choice of restaurants both western and Asian. The brunch and cafe culture is as in-trend here, as in any capital city yet the super-cheap and delicious street food remain one of the city’s unique qualities.

Bangkok has held the title for most visited city in the world for many years. This is not only for the incredible food and culture that it offers but also for its logistical links to all of south east Asia. Low cost airlines make weekend getaways to tropical islands easy and inexpensive. The school itself is located 30 minutes from the city’s second airport and traveling anywhere in Asia is incredibly easy stress-free.

British Early Years Centre is situated near to the biggest green space in the central city area, comprising of 3 very large, adjoining parks, perfect for exercise and relaxation. The school is on the city’s Skytrain network and 5 minutes from one of the most trendy neighborhoods. For a modern and stylish apartment with swimming pool and fitness centre included, the monthly rental will be around 20% of the salary. For older apartments with no pool it can be as little as and even less than 10%.

We are offering a two year extendable contract with excellent health insurance coverage and we will do all that we can to help with finding housing, both immediate and temporary and permanent once a preferred location has been decided upon. We look after our teachers and we reward those members of our team that complete 2 year contract, showing us professionalism in that time, by reducing their working week by one day per week. Many of our staff now only work 4 days a week as a result. Extra bonuses are awarded for running after school clubs. This is completely optional but the school would help to promote the club on behalf of the staff member, however takes no income from this whatsoever.

For interested applicants please send C.V. detailing experience and any relevant training to britishbeyc@gmail.com

Full salary and further details will be provided on application.
