About this job 

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Qualified Teacher of the Deaf for Early Years to join our Portage and Inclusion team. You will be supporting young deaf children aged 0-5yrs at home, in settings and in schools up to the end of Foundation Stage.

You will support children at home to develop their communication skills and help parents to make informed choices regarding their child’s preferred method of communication. You will monitor and promote children’s development across all areas of learning.

You will be supporting children in early years settings and schools, modelling teaching strategies and providing deaf awareness training for practitioners.

This role requires excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with professionals, parents and very young children. You will be required to manage your own caseload and work independently as well as contributing to the Portage and Inclusion Team.

We will consider suitably experienced teachers without the mandatory Teacher of the Deaf qualification who are committed to developing their specialist skills to work with deaf children. The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher who is willing to undertake the two-year specialist postgraduate qualification to train as a Teacher of the Deaf.
