You’ll implement agreed health interventions and therapy programmes with individual or groups of students.  You’ll provide specialist knowledge and support to pupils with complex health and physical needs requiring health and therapy interventions in line with school policies.

You’ll assist teachers in meeting pupil needs and advise staff on aspects of good practice in this specialist area in conjunction with appropriate school and NHS staff. You’ll ensure that all risks associated with healthcare delivery relevant to the school setting are assessed and managed effectively and that all incidents, accidents, safeguarding concerns and complaints are reported promptly following school policy and procedures as well as those of the NHS.

You’ll have at least 2 years’ experience of working in a school or other organisation with children with special educational needs, including complex health and physical needs and be willing to train to meet all our student needs.  You’ll have a NVQ3 level qualification in Health and Social Care or Teaching Assistant or be able to show the equivalent experience.  You’ll have a willingness to be trained as a key trainer in Moving and Handling.

You’ll join a talented staff team and a successful partnership of schools which is committed to raising the educational ambitions of the communities it serves.  As part of the Trust we can offer successful candidates a huge variety of opportunities for development and progression across all phases.

Co-op Academy Southfield is the largest Special School in Bradford providing support to students aged between 11-19.  We joined the Co-op Academies Trust on 1 June 2019.  The school is co-located with Co-op Academy Grange, a mainstream secondary academy.  In December 2018 Southfield received an Ofsted judgement of Good following a short inspection and the report is available here: https://files.api.ofsted.gov.uk/v1/file/50049551.

Over the next couple of years Co-op Academy Southfield is growing to cater from around 270 to 360 students including approximately 80 in our Sixth Form and 16 at our Project SEARCH sites at the Bradford Royal Infirmary and Next.  The main school houses Key Stages 3 and 4 in the Southfield Grange building and our outstanding Sixth Form provision, the Pathfinder Vocational Centre (PVC), is located on the other side of Haycliffe Lane and offers specialist education and training aimed at providing pathways for life after school for our sixth form students.

We have on-site support from other professionals including Speech and Language Therapists, the School Nursing team, Physiotherapy teams as well as support from Social Care and other services.  Our school also enjoys close links with education, leisure, sporting and commercial organisations across the locality and we are keen to actively promote these partnerships for the benefit of the children in our care.

What we offer:

• Excellent opportunities for personal and career development within the Co-op Academies Trust

• Employee benefits such as retail discounts, reduced gym membership, cycle to work scheme and much more

• Free access to a confidential 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme
