Educational Psychologist/ SEN Teacher

SUIS Shangyin International Primary Campus is located in the Minhang District of Shanghai, China. We can be found using Google Maps at 185 Long Ming Lu. Our building is a school within a school, with an International Campus of 720 students in Grades K-5. Our campus is also home to about 920 domestic Chinese students, but we share a common bond in seeking to understand the many diverse cultures of the world. Although we are a large school, we have the feel of a small community school. We pride ourselves in our warm, caring philosophy, where all members of the community – students, teachers, and parents – are learning, growing and participating in the educational process.

We are a learning-focused school, with a mission is to facilitate an ‘East Meets West’ approach to education that prepares young people for the challenges of a modern, global society.

The International Stream follows the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), together with the Shanghai Math and Chinese Curriculums. The IPC was introduced in 2015, and we are in the final stages of gaining accreditation for this.

Our current staff come from seven different countries, and we value the diverse experiences and knowledge that this brings. Our school is currently seeking applications from qualified applicants for 2021-22.  For work visa reasons, candidates must a passport from one of the following countries: UK, Ireland, US, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand or Australia and should also be IT literate. Candidates should also have at least 2 years of teaching experience in their field of expertise and ideally located in China.

ED Psych/ SEN Teacher (1) - Candidates must be able to work in any area of primary, K-5 (UK Yr. 1 - 6).

Ed Psych/ SEN Teacher

The position will include, but not be limited to,

Effective classroom management skills, including meeting with parents as needed

Ability to provide specialist support to students with SEN

Ability to provide specialist advice to teachers with SEN children in the class

The ability to speak both English and Chinese fluently would be an advantage

Attendance at weekly meetings with whole staff and Grade -Coordinators

Understanding of Assessment & Evaluation

Knowledge of IPC/ Inquiry-Based Curriculum is preferred

ECA – willing to teach an extra skill or talent one block per week in addition to regular class teaching
