Job overview

The Abbey School invites applications for the post of Educational Professional to work within the school’s Alternative Curriculum Provision. We are looking to appoint a well-organised creative individual who is committed to inclusion. The initiative is in response to changes in Kent regarding exclusions and the alternative provision. It is expected that we will reduce exclusions by targeting support to our most challenging students.

Experience, of working with vulnerable students is an advantage, but most valued is the enthusiasm to support and motivate young people and the ability to lead as a positive role model. We are seeking reliable candidates who have; patience, understanding as well as being team players.

The Abbey School is a highly successful, forward thinking school with over 200 staff. Ofsted in February 2017 Confirmed

The school continues to provide a good education for all of its pupils. They noted several strengths including “strong leadership, the quality of teaching, improving exam results, a vibrant sixth form, good behaviour, and an excellent level of care and safety”.

The Abbey School is a wide ability 11-19 Academy of 1090 students, with over 170 students in the sixth form. We are also an IB world school and offer the IBCP (International Baccalaureate Careers Programme) and are currently oversubscribed in year 7. We have a very positive team with high staff morale.

The school is situated on the rural outskirts of a small market town. We provide the highest quality value added education and excellent pastoral care for all students who feel secure and valued.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to join a team which is forward-thinking and focused on doing the very best for each and every student. A full induction programme is offered to all new staff.
