Enabler/Carer (part time, term time only, fixed term contract, hourly paid) 2 posts available
This post will only be available if the student accepts a place at the College in August 2018. Accordingly, this is a fixed term post supporting specific students for the duration of their time at the College. This post will end when the student leaves the College.
Hours will be worked based on student timetable and occasional out of hours support such as parents’ evenings/trips, a degree of flexibility is required. We envisage the post, if required, will be for up to 25 hours per week.
You will provide practical and personal care support for students with disabilities in the whole College environment including:
- Providing support for student’s physical needs including personal care needs, toilet needs, (involving moving and handling and use of hoist), support with exercise/physio and help during break/ mealtimes as appropriate.
- Providing in class support for students with disabilities.
We are looking for a candidate who ideally:
- Has Live Lifting and Handling certification, especially use of hoist
- Has experience/knowledge/understanding of providing personal care for people with disabilities
£15.15 per hour (including holiday and bank holiday pay)

Luton Sixth Form College is a specialist Sixth Form College, providing academic and general vocational education for 16 to 18 year olds in Luton.
Established in September 1966, we are the oldest Sixth Form College in the country and have an enviable reputation for quality and excellence. We are also one of the largest, with more than 2,800 students taking a vast array of A Level and BTEC courses.
Our mission is to provide an outstanding education for young people at the College, and to work with other local providers to ensure that there are opportunities for all young people in Luton to succeed and progress.
The College is located in a quiet residential area in the north of Luton, with easy access from the town centre, A505, A6 and M1. Our site was redeveloped between 2008 and 2010 and the original grammar school buildings were replaced by a £56m campus offering state-of-the-art facilities and modern resources for staff and students.
