Role of the EAL Teacher
- Develop a range of language and literacy inclusion strategies in collaboration with the PYP/MYP teaching team(s) to promote the learning of formal, academic English
- Plan, implement, and deliver the MYP English Language Acquisition course
- Develop and administer assessment tools and use data analysis to develop for pupils where English is an additional language
- Enrich inquiry by using flexible grouping and scaffolding techniques to support pupils’ learning
- Develop and lead an after-school programme for emerging and developing primary and secondary English language learners
- Form partnerships with EAL families to support the development of language and literacy of their children
- Co-teach academic literacy, especially academic writing with the MYP teaching team
- Case manage and monitor the progress of individual pupils, and set learning goals by designing individual learning plans and interventions to boost pupils’ learning
Qualifications/Experience
- Minimum Bachelor Degree and teaching qualification
- English as an Additional Language/ Language Acquisition qualification
- Extensive English as an Additional Language teaching experience
- Minimum two years teaching experience within a Learning Support/Learning Enhancement team at an International School
- Special Educational Needs and Gifted Education training and experience

Malvern College Hong Kong (MCHK) opened its doors to its first pupils in August 2018. This co-educational day school caters largely for international pupils, reflecting the truly multicultural nature of this vibrant city. Malvern College Hong Kong currently has 950 pupils in Prep 1 - Upper Sixth Form (Years 1-13) and will grow year on year to reach a capacity of around 1100 pupils in Years 1-13.

Daily Chinese is taken by all pupils.
MCHK works closely with Malvern College in the UK where the Malvern College International team is based.
