Shapwick School is seeking an excellent, well-qualified and highly motivated teacher of English & Literacy across the school, KS2 to GCSE level and above. 

The successful candidate will have a passion for this subject and be able to deliver high quality, individualised and creative lessons.  They will promote and model aspiration, commitment and teamwork.

Shapwick School is a small specialist, independent school dedicated to breaking down barriers presented by dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia, so that young people achieve their potential.  A commitment to whole school life in this busy day and boarding school for students with specific learning differences is vital.

Shapwick School is situated on the delightful Somerset levels, near to the coast, the Mendips, Quantocks and Exmoor.  As a CReSTeD category ‘SP’ School, Shapwick specialises in supporting boys and girls aged 8 to 18 years whose education has been adversely affected by dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia.  We employ a team of specialist teachers, speech & language therapists and occupational therapists who deliver to small classes (average size is 8) and individuals.

As one of the first specialist schools for children with dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia the school is very proud of its staffs’ experience at understanding each child’s individual needs and helping them to grow into confident, skilled and happy adults ready to take the next stage in their life.
