Vision for Education, the supply arm of TES, are seeking to appoint a Full-Time English and Personal and Social Education (PSE) Teacher to join our successful supply teaching team and to work in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.  The role will also involve teaching a small element of Personal and Social Education (PSE). This position will be starting from September 2018 and will continue on a long-term basis. The school will go permanent for the right English Teacher.

The desired English Teacher will be teaching English Literature and English Language up to GCSE Level to a small group of secondary-aged pupils. You will be supported by a dedicated senior leadership team, and be working alongside some excellent practitioners specialising in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate must have experience of teaching English and ideally (although not mandatory), teaching English to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful English Teacher will be expected to take on the full teaching role, which would include planning, marking and developing the English and Personal and Social Education (PSE) curriculum. It is also vital that the successful candidate is able to build a strong and positive rapport with young people with additional needs.

The successful English and Personal and Social Education (PSE) Teacher will be expected to teach groups of up to 4 students at a time. The school offers an English Curriculum which consists of teaching Functional Skills Entry Level 3 and Functional Skills. The ideal candidate will also be involved in teaching a bespoke Personal and Social Education (PSE) curriculum which is at an Entry Level 3 level.

The small secondary school offers a bespoke and individualised curriculum to students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and a diagnosis of communication difficulties, challenging behaviour, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. The aim of the school is to restore young people’s confidence, self-esteem and self-control by offering a specialist level of support and teaching approaches. The school is passionate about providing individualised support to each student.

To be considered for the position as an English and Personal and Social Education (PSE) Teacher, you must:   

•Be an English Teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an Instructor Tutor with experience of teaching English Language and/or English Literature up to GCSE and/or A-Level for at least 1 year 

•Have experience of teaching English Language and/or English Literature to students in Key Stage Three (KS3) and/or Key Stage Four (KS4) 

•Ideally have some experience teaching Personal and Social Education (PSE) or be happy to teach Personal and Social Education (PSE) 

•Have experience teaching children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Difficulties, Social, Emotional and Behavioural (SEBD) Difficulties and/or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) 

•Be able to build a strong rapport with the young people you’re teaching 

•Have a passion for teaching with the ability to plan and deliver inspiring English lessons 

•Have a genuine desire to become part of committed team of practitioners
