We are seeking an experienced and dynamic English Language & Literacy Lead to drive literacy initiatives, support curriculum development, and enhance teaching strategies across grade levels.

Job Overview

The English Language Teacher & Literacy Lead will oversee the development and implementation of effective literacy instruction, ensuring alignment with curriculum standards, Common Core.

In Addition to a limited teaching load; this role involves coaching teachers, analyzing student performance data, and promoting research-based best practices to enhance literacy outcomes, comprehension, and fluency.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the English Language and Literacy curriculum in alignment with the curriculum standards.
• Coach teachers on center-based learning strategies and best practices for improving students’ literacy, comprehension, and fluency.
• Support and mentor teachers in data-driven instruction, utilizing assessments such as NGRT, MAP, CAT4, and Internal assessment Data to inform teaching strategies and interventions.
• Deliver and model outstanding lessons in the grade level He/ She is teaching.
• Analyze student performance data to identify trends, set targets, and implement effective literacy interventions.
• Develop and oversee school-wide literacy initiatives to improve reading comprehension, vocabulary, and writing proficiency.
• Provide professional development on structured literacy approaches, differentiated instruction, and evidence-based reading strategies.
• Collaborate with other subject leaders to embed literacy across all areas of learning.
• Support English Language learners (ELL) through targeted interventions and strategies.
• Engage with parents and the wider school community to promote a strong reading culture.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in English Language, Linguistics, or a related field with a recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent).
• Minimum of 4 years of teaching experience in English Language Arts (ELA) or literacy instruction.
• Experience in Dubai, with knowledge of KHDA requirements.
• Valid Teaching License.
• Training or certification in structured literacy programs (e.g. Jolly Phonics)
• Experience implementing RTI (Response to Intervention) for literacy support.
• Proven experience in curriculum development and using student data (NGRT, MAP, CAT4, internal assessments) to inform instruction.
• Strong knowledge of Common Core standards and literacy best practices.
• Experience in coaching and mentoring teachers to improve literacy instruction and student outcomes.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Education, Literacy, or TESOL.
