English Learning Mentor

Contract: This post will be offered on a temporary, part time, term time only plus one week basis, initially until 20th July 2018

Start Date: November 2017

Pay Scale: Grade 3, Spinal Column Point 14-18

Salary: £16,781- £18,070 per annum (: £6,876.37 - £7,404.57 per annum)

Hours: 18 hours per week to be worked flexibly (ideally across 3 days) between 08.30 and 16.00 Monday to Friday

No on roll: 870 (including VI Form)

Ofsted rating: Good (September 2014)

Diocesan Inspection: Outstanding (March 2016)

Christ the King Catholic Voluntary Academy is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative person to work alongside the hardworking and dedicated English team.  The English mentor role will involve working with students on a 1-1 basis as well as working with small groups of students to offer targeted intervention to support students’ progress in English. The role may involve working within classes to offer support to students alongside the class teacher.

Applicants must have a minimum of five GCSEs or equivalent which ideally includes English and Maths. Higher level academic qualifications will be considered an advantage. Applicants must ideally have prior experience of working with young people, have strong communication skills and be able to demonstrate an ability to support students both in a pastoral and academic capacity.
