Job overview

Ellis Guilford School is an 11-16 academy serving families in and around the Basford area of Nottingham.  We have recently become part of the family of schools that make up the Creative Education Trust and are at the start of a journey to raise standards and ensure we do all that is needed to help the young people we serve succeed.

Applications are encouraged from ambitious English teachers who share our vision and belief that all pupils have the right to have access to the highest quality education.  We require a highly committed educationalist who believes passionately about making a difference to the life of every student.  In return you will be rewarded with a highly competitive career package.  Applications from those in the early stages of their careers and thinking about progressing in to a leadership position would be most welcome.  The opportunity to undertake externally recognised accredited training such as NPQML, NPQSL, Teaching Leaders and Future Leaders, is actively promoted and encouraged.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience of teaching English at KS3 and KS4 and be ambitious
  • Work independently and collaboratively as part of the team showing integrity
  • Support the curriculum development, planning, teaching and assessment to secure excellent subject outcomes for all students in English.
  • Demonstrate commitment to raising attainment of all pupils across the academy and ensure equality for all.

Start Date: September 2019, but we welcome applicants available to join our team earlier (Easter or May).

Ellis Guilford has a strong commitment to safeguarding young people; our recruitment processes follow safer recruitment procedures and all appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS clearance.

We are an 11-16 school with over 1300 pupils on roll.

We have three Core Values that we expect our students to demonstrate:

  • Equality – give everyone a chance – to belong and succeed
  • Integrity – do the right thing – with passion, with purpose
  • Ambition – work hard, aim high – now and for the future

We aim to prepare all our pupils to be good citizens of the future. Ellis Guilford has hard working and caring staff who support pupils through engaging lessons, excellent pastoral care and a wide range of enrichment and extra curricular activities.

We very much value positive relationships with families as, together, we can make a real difference to the lives of our young people.

We joined the Creative Education Trust on 1st November 2018. CET have an excellent track record in supporting schools and we hope that this partnership will enable us to drive improvements and secure even better student progress and outcomes.
