The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Teacher of English to join our school. You will be passionate in making a difference for our students. We are looking to recruit a colleague with both the commitment and relevant skills to embody our culture and help to raise standards throughout the school. They will join the school at an exciting point in its trajectory; we look forward to having you on this journey.

Our School

Our mission is to provide a world class education, so students have the choice to attend a top university or a real alternative. Our mission is underpinned by our shared values of ambition, determination, and respect which drive our thinking and behaviours.

Our most recent Ofsted inspection judged the academy ‘Good’. High expectations of behaviour and learning are established resulting in a calm and purposeful environment.

Sheffield Springs Academy is part of United Learning, one of the largest groups of schools in England aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people. Schools within United Learning work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. By collecting expertise and combining resources, we help to make the tough job of teaching a little easier. With a shared curriculum and lesson plans from around the group available to all, our teachers have strong foundations to lead the engaging, rounded education our children deserve. Our intranet site, United Hub, is just one example of how we share this resource and communicate across sites, helping to simplify processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance. We reward our staff: with wide career opportunities – between Primary and Secondary, Academy and Independent – better pay, benefits, and ultimately the satisfaction of helping every child at each of our schools to succeed and reach their full.

What we offer

  • Highly visible and supportive SLT.
  • Knowledge rich curriculum.
  • Teaching and learning approach based on Rosenshine and Teach Like a Champion.
  • Evidence informed CPD.
  • Disruption free learning and centralised corrections.
  • Academy routines to maximise learning time.
  • Regular feedback to colleagues.

Closing date: Tuesday, 5 July 2022, 9 am.

United Learning

Sheffield Springs Academy is part of United Learning, a large and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.

We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation – which is key to our commitment to bringing out the best in everyone. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit. We are open to discussing flexible working options.
