About Goulburn Valley Grammar School

Goulburn Valley Grammar School is a co-educational, independent school, with students ranging from Years 5-12. The school is non-denominational and open entry with a strong focus on student learning and achievement. At the same time the school places a priority on being a caring and respectful community where each student is recognised for their individual worth. There is a positive community culture and rich co-curricular programme which aims to nurture the development of well-rounded young people.

GVGS is located in Shepparton, a regional centre in Northern Victoria about 2 hours north of Melbourne. It has approximately 700 students and 72 teaching staff. Founded in 1982, the school has an open entry policy, welcoming girls and boys of different races, religions and socio-economic backgrounds. 

Facilities 

The school is situated in the Goulburn Valley on a 17 hectare site with beautifully landscaped gardens surrounding King's Lake. Facilities include a large oval, outdoor hard-court area, indoor gymnasium, well-equipped classrooms, science laboratories, library facilities, and a state of the art music performance centre. 

Curriculum 

In Years 5-10 the learning programme is founded on the Australian Curriculum. Students in Years 11 and 12 complete the Victorian Certificate of Education. Students are provided with laptops.

Within the co-curricular programme, students are able to participate in a wide variety of activities designed to cater for diverse interests and abilities, including Music, Sport, Outdoor Experiences and the Arts. These programmes provide opportunities for student leadership, decision-making and problem solving, helping to build well rounded young men and women.

Our school is committed to supporting our students to develop global perspectives through international experiences. These include cultural exchange programmes with our sister schools in Indonesia, the UK, Europe and North America, as well as World Challenge expeditions and historical and cultural tours of Italy and France.
