About Sacred Heart College Yarrawonga

Sacred Heart College Yarrawonga is a co-educational, non-selective, Catholic, independent day secondary school, serving students aged 12-18. Located in Yarrawonga, Victoria, the school has approximately 245 enrolled students.

Sacred Heart College Yarrawonga has served the local Yarrawonga-Mulwala communities for over 50 years. The college has experienced increased enrolments over the past five years, and continues expanding its facilities and resources. A progressive Catholic school, Sacred Heart College Yarrawonga is inspired by the Charism of the Sisters of Mercy and retains strong links with the Sacred Heart Parish, the Sisters of Mercy, and the local community. Facilities

High-quality learning and teaching facilities are provided by the school, as well as large ovals and recreational areas. The college recently opened a rehabilitation health centre, for the delivery of Allied Health Certificate III, as well as a new engineering centre.

Curriculum

Sacred Heart College Yarrawonga delivers a middle school (Years 7-9) curriculum that focuses on strengthening literacy and numeracy skills. Years 7-8 study religious education, English, mathematics, information technology, humanities, Japanese, art and technology, and health and PE. The senior school (Years 10-12) offers a diversity of academic, vocational, and applied pathways. Students work towards the Victorian Certificate of Education or the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning. Vocational education and training, and distance education courses are available. Senior students may integrate their studies with school-based apprenticeships or traineeships.

The school aims to create a welcoming Christian community where students receive a whole-person education. The college strives to remain faithful to its Mercy and Catholic heritage. Students are nurtured to develop honesty and integrity, and to acquire the skills necessary to make a successful contribution to the wider community.
