The Role:

An Estates Technician is required to join our friendly and professional Estates team.

As part of the Estates team you will be required to carry out planned maintenance and repair work on College grounds and buildings and will be responsible for ensuring that site management, safety and security is maintained at all times. Shift work and some evening work is required, alongside occasional weekends. Shifts currently are as follows:


Shift Day                         Time

Early Monday to Thursday 6:00am - 2:00pm

Early Friday                        6:00am – 1:00pm

Late Monday & Thursday        10:00am – 6:00pm

Late Tuesday & Wednesday        1:30pm – 9:30pm

Late Friday                        11:00am – 6:00pm


With a ‘flexible can do’ approach to your work, you will have good communication and interpersonal skills, be an excellent team player as well as have the ability to work under pressure using your own initiative when responding to the Estate department's changing work demands. 

You will be able to demonstrate a good level of health and safety awareness and the ability to apply safe working practices. Ideally you will have a First Aid at Work certificate, or be willing to undertake this qualification.

Experience of basic maintenance and general repair work along with manual handling techniques is essential. Industry experience in a relevant trade would be advantageous.

Annual leave  

Academic staff are entitled to 40 days per annum (pro rata for part time staff) for the academic year 01 September to 31 August and this is in addition to the Bank and Public Holidays normally observed in England and Wales. 

Business Support staff are entitled to 30 days per annum (pro rata for part time staff) for the academic year 01 September to 31 August and this is in addition to the Bank and Public Holidays normally observed in England and Wales. 

College Management Team are entitled to 35 days per annum (pro rata for part time staff) for the academic year 01 September to 31 August and this is in addition to the Bank and Public Holidays normally observed in England and Wales.  

The College is closed for 2 weeks during the student Christmas break during which time all staff are granted additional leave to be taken at this time.

The College provides on its campus free secure parking to our staff and bike racks. We are located on local bus routes and are conveniently 20 minutes’ walk from Macclesfield train station.
