Job overview

Bishop David Brown School is seeking to appoint an exams manager to join a friendly and inclusive team. The school is committed to providing well maintained facilities to enable all students to progress and would be an ideal role for someone who wants to be part of a successful school that has recently been judged by Ofsted as Good.

The Examinations Manager will deliver an effective and responsive examination service to staff and students by taking day to day responsibility for work relating to the operation of examinations processes.

This role is for 720 hours per year. Hours will be worked by arrangement although flexibility will be required during the formal examination period in the Summer term, which typically means some early starts and late finishes.

The successful candidate will also provide examination services including, but not limited to, examination registration, liaison with awarding bodies, organising examinations, invigilation and line management of a team of invigilators, recording and distributing results to all parties involved in examination processes and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of working in exams in the educational sector but this is not essential as full training will be provided. In addition to being highly organised and flexible in your approach to working practices you should have the ability to liaise and communicate with colleagues at all levels of the organisation.

The successful candidate will play an integral and vital role in improving the outcomes of our students, and we welcome colleagues who are creative and keen to ‘make the role their own’. You will work with our young people and their parents to ensure that their experience of exams – whether formal or internal - is as positive and successful as it can possibly be. This is a busy role, but an extremely rewarding one.

 This school can offer:

• opportunities to develop and progress your career through our comprehensive CPD programme;
• a well-structured programme of induction and on-going support;

• an excellent package of medical and well-being support; and

• membership of a contributory local government pension scheme.

 The successful candidate will:

 • demonstrate the skills to support the leadership team;

• be committed to a high standard of workmanship;

• be a motivated team player with good communication skills; and

• make effective use of their time.

 This is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive difference to the life of our school. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed.
