Job overview

Are you looking for an exciting and rewarding challenge working in a dynamic school environment? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

The role

We are delighted to be advertising for a new Exams Officer to join our data team from September 2022. This is a brilliant opportunity for entry level job seekers considering a career in education or teaching professionals keen to have a different experience of working in a school setting outside of the classroom.

The successful candidate will be joining KAA at an exciting time as we look to expand our students numbers and introduce wider curriculum offering including T level courses from September 2023.  The new Exams Officer will feature as an important person in our new exams strategy as the academy enters into the next phase of its journey.

Reporting directly into the Senior Data Manager, the successful candidate will be a professional person who is organised and can communicate effectively to a wide range of stakeholders.  They will play a key role in the day to day activity and planning of the exams workstream, thinking strategically about how the exams provision feeds into the wider school objectives.

Above all else, the successful candidate will have an appetite for learning and is willing to get involved and absorb the knowledge of those around them.  This role can be a fantastic platform for professional development and we encourage those aspiring for a career in education or those who are familiar with the school setting but are interested in a change of role to apply!

What you offer

You will be a positive person, who is flexible and helpful and has the communication skills to work effectively to complete a variety of tasks.   You will be reflective and resilient in the face of setbacks, and be open to making improvements to the systems and processes around you.

Previous school experience is not essential for the application but having an understanding of the exams provision in school and its responsibilities within an academy like ours is advantageous.

What KAA offers

The successful candidate will be joining a team that is firmly committed to making KAA one of the best academies in the UK. The value of being part of a great team should never be underestimated. Being a member of KAA means you will be joining a supportive and talented group of staff who will invest in your professional development. This role will be excellent preparation for your future career, wherever that may take you, and previous finance staff have gone on to take up promotions in other schools following the experience they have gained at KAA. Further information about the unique benefits and strengths of KAA can be found via our website.

The role is being offered on a full time, permanent basis on a 42 week annual contract (term time plus 3 additional weeks in the school holiday period).

Application process

The deadline for applications is 9am on Monday 11th July. Interviews will take place soon after the deadline and where possible, exceptional candidates may be contacted ahead of the application deadline.

The candidate pack can be downloaded from this page and suitable candidates can contact our HR Manager, Alice Burch, at recruitment@kaa.org.uk with further questions.

About Kensington Aldridge Academy (KAA)

KAA is an 11 – 18 academy situated in the heart of Notting Hill. We opened in brand new buildings in 2014 with just Year 7 and our facilities are second to none. We are now in our ninth year of operation and are a full school with 1,250 students in Years 7 to 13.

KAA has grown to become one of the top academies in the UK. Our Ofsted report grades us outstanding in all categories and describes standards as “exceptional”. In 2018 we were awarded TES Secondary School of the Year, and our 2022 Good Schools Guide review praises the “phenomenal” education students receive.

Why work for KAA?

Making a real difference

KAA pursues the very highest standards in education, both inside the classroom and beyond. We believe all children can achieve good results, irrespective of their prior attainment or experiences. 60% of our students qualify for the Pupil Premium, but with our help they can overcome the barriers that relative poverty can create. Our ethos, spirit and commitment to ever-extending student achievement make KAA an incredible place to work and learn.

Unrivalled professional development

KAA is a high-performing environment where staff at all levels feel challenged and supported to achieve their professional goals. As you will see in our Ofsted report, CPD in our school is of an “exceptional” standard and is an ongoing focus for all staff. There are few better places to develop your skills as a teacher than here with us in Kensington.

Being valued

We invest in our staff and offer unique benefits, including: 180 school days (as opposed to the 190 other schools have); 15 training days (as opposed to 5); free breakfast and lunch for all staff everyday; a two-week half term in October; free staff exercise and well-being sessions, and much more.
