Created in 2008, the Leathersellers’ Federation of Schools educates 2,600 students in Lewisham and comprises Prendergast School, Prendergast Vale School and Prendergast Ladywell School. The group is a hard federation made up of both voluntary aided and foundation schools and, as such, benefit from being more autonomous than other groups. The Federation enjoys a close relationship with The Leathersellers’ Company which dates back to the 15th Century. Six of the Federations’ 21 Governors are appointed by the Company.

The Governing Body are looking to appoint an outstanding Executive Head who will build on the excellent work done to date by David Sheppard. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Federation into its next stage. Progress has been made in ensuring greater consistency across the Schools and, in the coming years, this will have to be consolidated and continued. Candidates will need to be a strong strategic leader capable of embedding continuous improvement and positive change by working closely with the senior leadership team and other external stakeholders.

Ideal candidates will have Headship experience with a proven track record in school improvement and the leadership and management skills to inspire and mentor a strong team. Candidates will need to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders and to be an influence within the local and national education arenas.

Welcome to the Leathersellers’ Federation of Schools which includes Prendergast Ladywell School, Prendergast School, Prendergast Vale School, Prendergast Primary School and Prendergast Sixth Form.

The aim of the Federation is to provide an excellent education for children from the local community in a safe, inclusive, supportive learning environment. The Federation serves over 3000 young people in Good and Outstanding Schools in Lewisham.

We value pupils’ diversity and actively teach and encourage all students to make positive contributions so that they become responsible, independent and successful members of society. Each school has its own identity and ethos, but all share these common values and purpose.

Our aim is to support all pupils to achieve through our high quality educational provision.  We do this through high quality teaching. We recognise too that all aspects of our provision contribute to pupils’ development. Our PSHE and Wellbeing provision, music service, the sports teams, the enrichment clubs, the trips and journeys, our provision in arts and drama, our school councils, all help develop the whole child. We know that happy confident pupils, who like and are engaged in all aspects of school life, are successful.
