DBS Emirates Hills Curriculum

Our curriculum is modelled on the National Curriculum for England and adapted to our own international context, leading to a challenging set of GCSE, BTEC and GCE A Level courses from Year 10 to Year 13. We feel the opportunities that students enjoy outside the classroom are just as important as the main curriculum and we offer an extensive and varied Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) programme.

Recruiting – Facilities Manager

At DBSEH, we are looking for an experienced and proactive Facilities Manager to join our team and ensure our school environment remains safe, clean, and fully operational in line with local and international standards. This is a dynamic role suited to someone with strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Staff & Contractor Management

  • Lead the facilities, cleaning, security, and contracted staff teams.
  • Support training, performance management, and ensure adherence to school policies.
  • Report staffing concerns and manage staff coverage effectively.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Ensure the school complies with all health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee emergency procedures, fire drills, chemical handling, and pool safety (if applicable).
  • Monitor on-site security and contractor compliance.

Transportation Oversight

  • Support safe student drop-offs and pick-ups.
  • Conduct bus inspections and liaise with transportation providers to maintain quality service.

Maintenance & Grounds Management

  • Oversee daily campus inspections and maintenance.
  • Coordinate with contractors for repairs and renovations.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the school campus in line with inspection requirements.

Energy Efficiency

  • Implement strategies to reduce water, electricity, and cooling consumption while upholding facility standards.

Person Specification:

Education: Bachelor's degree

Experience: A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role (e.g. Facilities, Projects, Contracts Management). Minimum of two years’ experience managing teams in a complex organization.

Competencies:

• A strong knowledge base of health and safety procedures coupled with knowledge of (and corresponding qualifications wherever appropriate) electromechanical systems (such as AHU’s / water pumps) and the ability to carry out minor maintenance works in conjunction with the school’s handyman.

• Working knowledge of maintenance skills e.g. electrical, plumbing, carpentry.

• The ability to explain issues and requirements to the school’s senior leadership team.

• Well organized and good at making decisions so that work plans and schedules reflect the needs of the school.

• Ability to manage and distribute resources in the most cost-efficient ways.

• A knowledge of security and cleaning practices with effective management of contractors.

• The ability to manage individual staff members and groups of contracted staff members.

• Excellent communication skills and command of the English language, in written and oral form

• Proficient in Microsoft packages such as Word, Outlook and Excel.

• Calm in all situations and able to delegate roles to team members.

• Attention to detail and an ability to problem solve.

• Experience within an international setting.

• Experience of working within or with a school/educational setting
