Founding Head of Junior School

The position

The opening of STS International School in September 2023 creates an exciting opportunity for an exceptional educational leader to become a key member of the Senior Leadership Team at a new 2 to 18 co-educational British-style international school. 

In the Junior School STSIS will offer a pre-primary curriculum for children aged 2–5 (Nursery to FS2) based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) from the UK followed by a rigorous Cambridge International primary curriculum for students aged 6 to 11. The school’s curriculum will also meet Bangladesh National Curriculum requirements for teaching Bangla and Bangladesh Studies. 

The successful candidate will have responsibility for all children in the school from Nursery to Grade 5.

The campus at Sun Valley, 2 km from the American embassy in the central residential and commercial district of Gulshan, is being purpose-built to a design by specialist UK architects Create Design and Beaumont Partners, Thailand in order to establish the kind of innovative learning spaces in which a truly 21st Century education can take place. 

Applicants should have a global perspective and proven record of relevant leadership in primary or early years education, while experience as a member of  staff opening a new school in similar circumstances would be an advantage.

The starting date for the position is August or September 2022.

Short-listed candidates must be able to provide a recent DBS check, police clearance certificate or similar record of non-criminality demonstrating that there is no reason why they cannot work with children. 

Interviews of long-listed candidates will be held online during July, though we reserve the right to start interviews earlier at our discretion. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend an online interview and later an interview in  Dhaka. 

Appropriate safeguarding checks will be carried out as part of the recruitment process.
