We seek to appoint a Full Time Teacher of French (with German or Spanish) from 1 September 2018.
This is an opportunity for an ambitious and dynamic individual to join a well-established Modern Foreign Languages department. The successful candidate will be able to teach French A Level. The ability to teach a second language to GCSE or A Level is desirable.
The Modern Languages Department is currently made up of 10 staff (full and part time) and is overseen by the Curriculum Leader for MFL. It is also support by foreign language assistants. The majority of Backwell School students take at least one language to GCSE and we currently offer French, Spanish and German at A Level. Students in Year 7 begin learning either French or Spanish with those for an aptitude for languages taking up a second language in Year 8. The department is friendly and dedicated and encourages students to achieve their potential. We run popular exchanges to Dinan in France, Salamanca in Spain and Freising in Germany.
Backwell School offers its staff a vibrant and stimulating teaching environment and there is a broad range of professional support available for new members of staff both within the department and in the wider school. Our induction programme is highly regarded and new teacher can expect to be assigned a mentor in addition to professional development support.
