Vision for Education, the supply arm of TES, are seeking to appoint two Full-Time Teaching Assistants to join our successful supply teaching support team and to work in a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school in Bourne. 

This position will start from September 2018 until at least December 2018. The successful Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant will be working across the Primary, Secondary and Post 16 Phrase. 

The ideal candidate will be supporting children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND); including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD), Autism (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Behaviour (SEBD) Difficulties. We are really looking for somebody who can engage effectively with students, provide a crucial level of support in the classroom and have a calming and nurturing approach when supporting children with complex needs and learning difficulties. 

The tasks and duties of the ideal Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant will vary from time to time, but will typically involve the following:

 •Liaise with the SENCO/Inclusion Manager to ensure effective SEND provision is provided at all times 

•Provide targeted support either inside or outside of the classroom 

•Work alongside the teacher to monitor progress 

•Support children to complete activities and differentiate such activities to different children (depending on their needs, skills and abilities)

 •Develop children and young people’s social, emotional, behavioural and physical skills and development.

 •Assist and provide 1:1 support to individual children in the classroom The ideal Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) 

Teaching Assistant will need to be a Qualified Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, although this isn’t essential. This is because it’s more important that we appoint a Teaching Assistant who has a very calm, nurturing and engaging approach when it comes to supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

 *** Applications from practitioners from a Support Worker and/or Career background are also strongly encouraged to apply for this position, as well as Teaching Assistants from a mainstream school background *** 

To be considered for this position of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant, you must:  

•Have experience of supporting children, young people and/ or adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND); including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Social, Emotional and Behavioural (SEBD) Difficulties, Autism (ASD/ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and/or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Difficulties 

•Be flexible, adaptable and able to travel to different Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) schools and specialist provisions across Huntingdon 

•Have a genuine desire and passion to become part of a committed team of Special Educational Needs Staff 

•Be able to build a positive and strong rapport with children and young people 

•Have the ability to hit the ground running in a sometimes quite challenging environment 

•Have a passion for teaching with the ability to plan and deliver inspiring lessons and intervention classes
