Cheltenham College Preparatory School seeks to appoint a number of Gap Students for the Autumn Term (Sept – Dec).  The role would be ideal for sixth-form/college leavers who are considering future careers in education and are keen to gain all-round experience of day-to-day school and boarding life.  The ideal candidates are expected to be energetic, with high levels of integrity, responsibility and organisation skills as well as the ability to work supportively and encouragingly with the pupils in our care.

Applicants should be prepared to work hard; you will be living in the boarding provision alongside the staff and pupils and will get so much more out of the role if you throw yourself into it whole heartedly.

The majority of a Gap students time will be will be given over to providing support and supervision whether it be assisting in Games, PE, Art, D&T and Kingfishers (Pre-Prep) lessons or helping with the care of the boarders (particularly during mornings, evenings and weekends).

Applicants must have a mature attitude as it is vital that Gap Students are aware of the School Child Protection and Behaviour policies and know what is expected of children and staff and, if called for, appropriately reporting incidents of concern.

The Prep aims to provide an environment in which each pupil in its care can flourish and grow in all spheres of their school life in a safe and secure environment.  The Prep Boarding (and day) House should be a ‘home from home’ where all pupils and students can study, play and rest.  They should develop responsibility for themselves and others, and have the opportunity to express their individuality, whilst learning respect and consideration towards the immediate and wider community in which they live.
