Job overview

Since becoming an academy in September 2009, Kettering Buccleuch Academy has seen many exciting changes. We are an all-through academy catering for students aged 4-18. We moved into our new, purpose-built building in January 2013. Under recent new leadership, the academy continues to go from strength to strength, with happy and motivated staff, a supportive culture and plenty of opportunities for personal growth with our excellent staff CPD offer. We offer a range of benefits including United Rewards, covering lifestyle and retail benefits including childcare vouchers, a car lease scheme, cycle to work etc., subsidised meals and an on-site gym which is free for all staff to use.

The role

This role is responsible for student outcomes in KS5 Geography.  With an expanding department and continually growing numbers of students opting to study Geography at A Level, the role will demand an outstanding, innovative, motivated and enthusiastic Geographer to develop and lead at KS5.  You’ll inspire and challenge your students so that they develop into highly effective, independent learners and achieve their individual potential.

The role will include the planning and delivery of fieldwork at KS5.  The ability to teach both Human and Physical Geography is essential.  The department currently teaches AQA A Level, so experience teaching and/or examining this qualification would be desirable.

About You

You will have a proven track record of success at A Level, and be able to work effectively within a team of both experienced teachers and NQTs.  You’re an inspirational practitioner, knowledgeable regarding the curriculum and an exemplary pedagogy practitioner.  You have high expectations of all students, and have experience teaching across all Key Stages.

United Learning

Kettering Buccleuch Academy is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.

We welcome visits to our school so that you can experience the unique ethos of Kettering Buccleuch Academy for yourself. If you would like to visit the academy, please contact Miss Millsop, PA to the Principal, on 01536 515644 or via email to WendyMillsop@kba.uk
