Geography Teacher (Maternity Cover August 2021 – March 2022)

Applications are invited from enthusiastic, qualified and experienced teachers. A minimum of two years’ recent experience of teaching Geography to GCSE/IGCSE and either A level or the IB Diploma Programme is desirable. The Geography Department is dynamic and innovative while our motivated and high-achieving students are involved in a wide range of activities beyond the classroom.

About the department

In the Geography department, we take pleasure in sharing our world experiences by bringing Geography to life and making it relevant to every one of us. Geography builds on students’ own experiences to investigate places at all scales, from the personal perspective in Ho Chi Minh City to the global outlook of our school community. The department vision to “create reflective, independent critical thinkers that are curious about their individual role in global issues” is made possible through collaboration to ensure the best, research-informed pedagogical methodologies and geographical thinking. The team works closely to critically question our teaching and learning choices and strive for the best way to support student success. The bespoke KS3 curriculum is relevant to our context in Vietnam and South East Asia. Students at KS4 take the CIE IGCSE, including 2 field trips. At IB we explore global change using the optional units A: Freshwater (for HL only), B: Oceans and Coasts (the basis of the Internal Assessment) and F: Food and Health. We care about nurturing positive experiences that allow students to see geography beyond the classroom through reading fiction and competitions including the enviromoji, Young Photographer of the Year, and Young Geographer of the Year.
