Job overview

Are you a graduate looking to work as a secondary school teacher and want a role which will allow you to gain experience? Look at coming in to join our Cover Supervisor Team which will allow you to gain valuable insight into the role of a teacher and career opportunities available in a school.  We would particularly welcome applications with an interest to cover lessons PE lessons.  We have found that candidates with sports backgrounds make excellent general cover supervisors, largely because of their rapport with young people and their positive behaviour management skills.

The Cover Supervisor role includes the supervision of students in lessons when the teacher is absent and supporting teaching staff on intervention in the classroom.

Candidates should indicate, in their letter of application, if there are any other subjects of the curriculum in which they are particularly interested in supporting (e.g. English, Maths, Science, Wellbeing, Enterprise, Languages, Performing Arts, Creative Technologies and Humanities).  This would be a perfect starting point or stepping stone for someone who is considering teaching in the future.  There is also an enhanced payment for colleagues who take on short or medium term instruction of a class.

Lord Grey is committed to the CPD of all staff and has supported staff into teaching via the Assessment Only routes and this academic year we have our first member of staff on a Teaching Apprentice programme.  In addition, we have employed staff back to the school after they have left to gain Qualified Teacher Status.

A candidate information booklet and application form are available on the vacancies section of Lord Grey Academy’s website:

http://www.lordgrey.org.uk/general-information/vacancies/

Please note the application form is available on the right hand side of the above link.

Completed application form and covering letter should be submitted to Human Resources at Lord Grey or emailed to hr@lordgrey.org.uk by 9am on Wednesday 23rd June 2021.

Only successfully short listed candidates will be contacted.
