Rugby School

Warwickshire

Full Time, Fixed Term
Start date:

Job overview

Rugby School is looking to appoint recent graduates from university or music college who have experience singing in excellent choirs and are considering moving into teaching and wish to enhance their appreciation of working within a school environment prior to training or a first full job. The work will be varied and that variety will, to some extent, be determined by the personality, enthusiasm and skills of the individuals appointed.

The GTAs will work closely with members of the full time and peripatetic music staff (approximately 50 colleagues in total).

The candidates will play a key role in the Chorister Programme and will be required to sing in four weekly Evensong services. Experience of performing in orchestras and the ability to play the piano would be an advantage, but not essential. Depending on the interests and abilities of the successful candidates, there will be opportunities to perform at the School (solo recitals, for example), to teach in the classroom, to start their own ensembles and to collaborate with visiting musicians.

The Chorister Programme at Rugby School and Bilton Grange started in September 2022 and provides two choirs, one for boys and another for girls. The choristers sing during the week and have no commitments at the weekend. The programme is supported by scholarships and bursaries up to 100% of the fees are available on a means tested basis. Further details can be found here: https://www.rugbyschool.co.uk/co-curricular/chorister-programme/

This is a 10-month fixed term contract and accommodation is included.
