At Coldfall we are committed to ensuring that our children are taught to lead environmentally responsible lives and that they can be activists who make a difference locally and globally. The role of the green/sustainability teacher is central to these ambitions.

The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to protecting and preserving the environment as well as a passion for educating our children about how they can contribute meaningfully to this. We are committed to supporting the successful candidate to receive the relevant outdoor/Forest Schools training and/or may consider applications from non-teachers who have the relevant Forest Schools accreditation.

Key responsibilities:

• Plan and teach stimulating and engaging outdoor lessons that instill a love for nature and their local environment

• To oversee and co-ordinate the use of the school grounds and allotment to deliver the science curriculum

• Contribute to the identification and planning of outdoor learning activities to consolidate and extend work carried out in class

• To lead assemblies on the Green theme (Switch-Off Fortnight, Walk to School Week, Earth Hour, etc.)

• To lead on the planning and building of the school’s sensory garden project

• Support pupils with activities that develop literacy and numeracy skills

• To provide inset/training consistent with the role as required

• Develop the school’s travel plan and lead the travel ambassador children’s group and maintain the school’s gold status
