Job overview

We are looking to appoint a Hair and Beauty Tutor who will deliver high standards of teaching and creative lessons to showcase your expertise in Hair and Beauty. Our ideal candidate would have significant experience of supporting children and young people with complex special educational, social, emotional and mental health needs and someone who is enthusiast and an expert at working with small groups of children and young people who have often found school a challenge.

Teaching and Learning duties and responsibilities:

• To deliver high quality learner focused vocational training to meet awarding body standards.

• Developing and delivering lessons and assessments that incorporate a combination of practical and theory learning activities.

• To support children and young people who have experienced difficulty in learning in mainstream school.

• To help our students develop confidence, skills and knowledge to believe that they be successful in their own lives.

• Forge positive and mutual respectful relationships with colleagues and students.

• Contribute to the development of positive and safe learning environments.

• Prepare closed files and assessment materials for Internal Verifier.

• To teach assigned students, including the setting and marking of work as appropriate

• To assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of students to BTEC Level 1 Introductory Award.

• Support work experience opportunities, visiting providers and supporting students undertaking work experience.

- inspire our students and help them to develop the confidence, skills and knowledge to believe that they can be successful in their own lives.

Just 40 minutes from central London by train, Olive AP Academy – Thurrock is based in Tilbury. Our brand new purpose built building opened to staff and students in summer 2017. Our alternative provision academy has up to 96 students aged between 11 and 16 on roll at any one time.
