We are interested to hear from bright, enthusiastic and extremely well organised recent graduates who are interested in and available for a 1 year internship. This job would suit a recent graduate with a strong interest in education and events management. We are looking for someone with a minimum of a 2:1 in any academic degree. The right candidate will have an absolute commitment to transforming the lives of young people and have a strong interest in Higher Education and current academic events.

The central Harris Sixth Form is one of the largest in London, with 11 campuses and 2,000+ Sixth Formers. It has two very different, but equally ambitious, routes that sixth formers can choose between: Sixth Form Academia, for students looking for a Russell Group university place or to study at other top universities worldwide; and Sixth Form Professional for those of our students wanting to study for credible qualifications that universities recognise and respect, or which lead directly to their careers of choice.

Your opportunity

The job is to support our team in the running of our educational programmes, the Harris Experience and Harris Experience Advanced, which are already in place from Year 9 through to Year 13. The Harris Experience programme spans three years for each cohort, from Year 9 to Year 11; Harris Experience Advanced spans two years for each cohort, from Year 12 to Year 13.

Both programmes aim to broaden the cultural and academic experiences of some of our brightest young secondary students in the Federation, to give them an outstanding preparation for some of the country’s top university destinations, including Oxford and Cambridge. In the long term, we see ourselves shaping future leaders in all walks of life.

This role will be based at the Harris Federation head office near East Croydon station; however, much of your time will be spent visiting our academies in and around London. The successfull application will have the opportunity to gain a variety of skills and experience whilst support the Head of Harris Experience.

What we are looking for

We want every student in London to have the best possible education, enabling them to fulfil their potential and decide their own future. We are looking for a talented graduate who wants to be a part of transforming education in London. You will be responsible for:

  • Initial identification of suitable students for entry into Harris Experience for Year 9  and Harris Experience Advanced  for Year 12
  • Putting together and publishing academic and cultural programmes (in liaison with the other Harris Experience Coordinator and the Head of Harris Experience)

The Harris Federation is a not-for-profit educational charity with almost 25 years of education experience in and around London. Our primary, secondary, all-through and sixth form academies have an international reputation for delivering a step change in education standards.

In joining a Harris Academy, you will be working with some of the country’s most exceptional teachers, support staff and leaders. There are frequent opportunities for internal exchange and promotion; our CPD is regularly described as Outstanding; and we have a package of staff benefits that rivals the most competitive of other professions.

Each Harris Academy is led and run by its senior leaders and has its own curriculum and way of doing things. What our Academies share, however, is a commitment to giving their children and teenagers an excellent education within a happy, caring and supportive environment.

There are Harris Academies in many different settings – inner city and suburban – but they are all within a maximum ninety minute commute from each other. This enables a highly collaborative structure, with on-call support from the Harris Federation.
