Old Palace is looking to employ a full-time Head Caretaker to work split shifts at our Preparatory School site.  The candidate must have experience of caretaking, building maintenance and grounds work in an educational environment or similar.  Experience of team management, good organisation, communication skills and self-motivation are essential. 

The ideal candidate will also have trade skills, a good knowledge of Health and Safety, be a strong team player and have the ability to ensure that the high standards of the Premises and grounds are maintained.  In this role, the successful candidate will proactively manage all premises activities including School Lettings, to ensure a safe, secure and pleasant learning environment for pupils, staff and visitors.  

Old Palace of John Whitgift School is an independent school for high achieving girls.  We cater for girls aged one year to 18 across our nursery, Preparatory and Senior Sections.  Boys are admitted to the nursery only.  Old Palace is a member of the Whitgift Foundation, a charity committed to providing a first rate education to boys and girls in Croydon and its surrounds. It provides a significant number of bursaries to support students through the Foundation Schools.  Note that staff employed by the Foundation receive a number of benefits including fee discounts for any child accepted into one of its schools.
