Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to lead one of Nigeria’s most prestigious preparatory schools and play a key role in the development of a renowned, changing, institution. It offers the right candidate the chance to make a real educational difference, supported by a highly committed board of Directors and a strong leadership team.

Lagos Preparatory & Secondary School (LPSS) is a co-educational day school for pupils aged 18 months to 16 years, which feeds a wide range of schools, including a number of British independent schools. The School offers outstanding facilities, in a highly sought-after suburb of Lagos, to its international community of students. LPSS offers the English National Curriculum and its mission is to create and environment of international learning where all children achieve their maximum potential, regardless of ability.

The Directors wish to recruit someone who can provide the inspirational leadership and educational experience to build on and improve the School’s academic and extra-curricular provision.  Working in a vibrant community, the Head needs to be outgoing and comfortable building relationships. An understanding of the international education market would be advantageous, as would prior experience of the British independent sector. The School is expected to grow in the coming years and the Directors wish to ensure that its offering and academic performance continue to improve, meaning they wish to appoint an ambitious, driven, person with a vision for the school.

Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency advisor to Lagos Preparatory School on this appointment. For further information about the role, including details about how to apply, please visit www.saxbam.com/appointments using reference CADWC.

Applications should be received by noon on 23 September 2019.

About Lagos Preparatory & High School

Our school provides day facilities for boys and girls aged 18 months to 13 years who are taught the requirements of the English National Curriculum, with some emphasis on Nigerian social studies.

The school is equipped to a high standard providing all the facilities needed to teach the full curriculum.:

The school has a comprehensive reading scheme, an up to date library and an excellent range of resources, both text and photocopy based, which are used to carefully match the needs and ages of the children.

All the classrooms are bright and stimulating

ASSESSMENT & REPORTING

The performance of the children is monitored carefully and targets for improvement are set regularly.
Parents receive two formal reports a year – amid-year progress report with targets, and an end of the year summary report.

In addition, a brief monthly report is sent out giving marks of tests in english and maths and an indication of progress in reading.

Our school is registered with the Department for Education and Skills in UK and at the end of Key Stage One and Key Stage 2 our children take the SAT tests mandated by them.

Our children take these tests at the same time as in England where they are marked and moderated by them.
