The Role

The Head of Art and Design will be an inspiring, dynamic and experienced Art teacher. The successful candidate will be committed to creating the best possible outcomes for all pupils as well as leading the teaching of Art across the school to a high standard. Alongside teaching and overseeing all areas of academic Art and Design, the role will encompass coordination of co-curricular Art, exhibitions of work in the School and competition entries. There is currently a strong Art tradition at the School and the Head of Art and Design will ensure that the Art programme touches the lives of all Falcon Boys, promoting a lifelong appreciation and even passion for Art. Currently the Head of Department also coordinates a Summer Art Auction of both children’s and staff’s work in aid of charities which proves to be enjoyable and enlightening. Expectations are that Art and Design will continue to be of the highest quality, adding depth,

S/he must have a good level of technical skills and some experience of using SIMS.  It is an important role in Falcons’ strong and committed community and is line managed by the Head with whom s/he works closely and professionally.  An excellent knowledge of Art and Design and a passion for imparting this knowledge to the young, and a high level of organisational abilities, enthusiasm, humour and energy are requirements of the position. The successful candidate must be an excellent teacher and an effective Line Manager. S/he must have a good working knowledge of child protection issues and safeguarding and undertake the appropriate training. S/he must at all times be friendly, approachable and supportive.
