Hartland International School is looking to appoint an exceptional Head of Art to lead this subject across the whole school and help drive the expansion of the Secondary curriculum.

The school which opened in September 2015, is rapidly developing a reputation for excellence in learning and teaching. We provide the best possible education for every child in our care and import the very best practices from independent schools around the globe. With just nearly 700 children enrolled at present from 65 different nationalities, Hartland is a truly international community. Located in the heart of Dubai, in a developing residential community, Hartland’s unique vantage point is the iconic landmark of the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Mall and Downtown Business area of the city. The school will operate from Foundation Stage to Year 12 in the academic year 2021 – 2022 and is excited about the launch of its Sixth Form. We offer the National Curriculum for England and offer GCSE’s, IGCSE’s and will offer a full range of A-Levels with some BTEC courses next year. The school was recently awarded the Patrons Accreditation and Compliance Award from COBIS, The Challenge Award from NACE and is a member of BSME. 

The Post

Applications are invited from teachers who are outstanding practitioners and are passionate and forward thinking and who will thrive in a vibrant learning environment, helping us build a successful Art programme. The successful candidate will be required to show leadership in securing standards of excellence in teaching and learning and will have the necessary skills needed to devise a curriculum which will stimulate and motivate students to achieve. There is a very strong enrichment programme at the school and the successful candidate will be expected to make a contribution to this, joining a committed and exceptional staff group. The school is currently offering Edexcel GCSE and has planned to offer at A-Level, also with Edexcel.

As a member of the Hartland team, you will share in the responsibility for teaching, learning, enrichment and pastoral care and will be someone who can thrive on the challenge of growing a new school and community. 

The successful candidate will: 

  • Hold a relevant degree and teaching qualification
  • Have experience of teaching the National Curriculum for England or IB either in the UK or in an international setting, with exceptional evidence of examination outcomes for students at GCSE and A-Level/ or at IB Diploma level.
  • Have a minimum 5 years teaching experience 
  • Have exceptional communication skills
  • Be committed to the Hartland Values
  • Be able to provide a portfolio of work and student outcomes
