Clarendon Academy is seeking to appoint a highly skilled practitioner to lead Biology/Chemistry. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced teacher, with QTS status, to join the leadership of our Science Department.  The ability to teach Biology or Chemistry to A level is essential.

Clarendon Academy is an exciting place to work. We are a thriving co-educational 11-18 comprehensive academy within the Acorn Education Trust. We are based in the large town of Trowbridge, in easy commuter distance from Bath. We pride ourselves on being a centre of excellence and a place where young, enthusiastic children enter in Year 7 and leave us at the end of Year 13 as fully rounded young adults.

The Science Department is housed together in one block and comprises 8 laboratories, one shared computer room, 3 prep-rooms and a dedicated Science staff room. All full time Science teachers in the Department have their own room in which they teach. We provide a wide variety of resource materials – including a number of class sets of different text books. We are well resourced with practical equipment and continually assess our available equipment, encouraging staff to identify key practical opportunities and equipment that we could acquire to improve our students experience.

For the successful candidate we can offer:

  • enthusiastic, friendly and      hardworking students with excellent attitudes to learning;
  • a caring and supportive community      environment;
  • a commitment to professional      development;
  • full support and induction      programme for NQTs.

Located in the bustling town of Trowbridge, Wiltshire, our school has a strong reputation in the local community, and beyond, for being a school with high standards of teaching and learning.

We pride ourselves on being a centre of excellence and a place where young, enthusiastic children enter in Year 7 and leave us at the end of Year13 as fully rounded young adults. Our staff aim for every lesson, every day, to be exceptional. To support this, we ensure that all staff receive regular training so they can continue to develop their craft. Our curriculum is enhanced by the strong pastoral support offered by all staff. We care deeply about our students and work tirelessly to ensure they feel that they belong and can achieve their dreams.

In 2018 we joined Acorn Education Trust, which has provided exciting opportunities to improve local education and draw on collective experience. We work closely with other schools within the Trust and the central team to help us continue to grow from strength to strength.
