We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, ambitious and outstanding practitioner as Head of Chemistry to lead and co-ordinate the delivery of Chemistry at Key Stages 3-5. Science at Oaklands is a high achieving subject area and Chemistry is an extremely popular subject at A level. The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher and role model for future scientists, have a proven track record of high outcomes for learners in Key Stages 3 - 5 and will be able to manage and lead a team of dedicated specialists and non-specialists alongside the Head of Faculty. 

Last year our results placed the Science Faculty in the top 3% nationally in terms of progress 8, with an overall value added of 1.1. The overall percentage of two A*/C was 74% while the percentages of A*/A were 70% in Biology, 78% in Chemistry and 61% in Physics. Our higher attainers were ranked in the top 0.17% nationally in terms of progress 8, with a value added score of 1.4.

Oaklands is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated in East London. It is a community state school as well as a NSS (National Support School] that provides support to other schools. A smaller than average secondary school, it will provide 850 places for secondary and sixth form students between the ages of 11-18, when fully subscribed.

With over 20 years’ worth of educational success, Oaklands has been a specialist school for science since 2003 and became a specialist modern foreign language school in 2008.
