Loretto School seek to appoint a Cricket Professional for a commitment to the quality of coaching, learning and teaching at Loretto School and to the provision of an engaging and inspiring experience for the pupils.
In addition we expect:
· a passion for sport and a desire to share this with pupils,
· the ability to plan, prepare and deliver creative and challenging coaching to all pupils,
· an interest in using innovative methods, including ICT, to enhance learning and teaching where appropriate,
· good organisational skills, complete honesty and punctuality,
· ability to work well as part of a team and to share ideas with colleagues

The post-holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom he is responsible, or with whom he comes into contact, will be to adhere to, and ensure compliance with, the School’s Child Protection Policy at all times. If, in the course of carrying out the duties of the post, the post-holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School he must report any concerns to the School’s Child Protection Officer.
Reporting and role:
· You will report to the Head of Sport
· You will provide a supporting role to your sporting colleagues
The main aims of the post are as follows:
Coaching
- Coaching boys and girls cricket in the Junior and Senior Schools during extra-curricular sessions in autumn and spring terms.
- Coaching boys cricket in Junior and Senior games sessions.
- Coaching elite performers in all age groups during 1:1 sessions.
- Coaching football in the spring term during games as required.
- Implementation of a rolling programme of staff training for cricket umpires
Development
- Promoting participation in cricket and the development of players from beginner level to elite.
- Implement, review and update the whole school cricket development plan.
- Scout and attract potential cricket players/scholars in prep schools and clubs/state schools.
- Develop relationships with local clubs and prep/junior schools.
- To organise taster days for 11-13 year olds.
- Work with Head of Sport to raise participation in cricket of 5F and 6F boys.
- Work with Head of Sport to raise profile of cricket including website profile, tours and marketing.
Working hours
Your normal hours of employment will be 30 hours a week during term time (34 weeks) and during the additional six weeks to cover our outreach programme, including holiday cricket camps. There may be times when, because of other staff member’s absence or because of the School’s other needs you will be required to work additional hours.
You are entitled to 26 (pro rata) working days as holiday during each School holiday year period which runs from 1 September to 31 August (inclusive) and you will receive normal remuneration during such holidays.
Salary
The salary will be dependent upon experience but in the range £25,000 to £30,000 per annum inclusive of paid holidays.
General
All staff are expected to be keen to contribute to the wider life of a full boarding school such as occasional evening social events and other such activities from time to time.
