Job overview

An exciting opportunity has come up for a Head of Teaching, Learning and Assessment improvement and enhancement at Newcastle College. The post will involve leadership of the College improvement and enhancement team (IET). The IET will work in collaboration with leaders, managers, teachers and curriculum support staff across the full range of the College provision to enhance the quality of the learning experience, to secure consistently good and outstanding learning and to contribute to improved outcomes for learners.

The Head of TLA improvement and enhancement will significantly contribute to the College vision that our students will 

  • become resilient and recognise that learning takes place when they feel challenged 
  • be confident to tackle scenarios and activities which challenge their existing skills, knowledge and perceptions
  • value and actively engage in wider learning (including maths and English development, metacognitive skills, development of British Values) to support their full development and allow them to excel in their future studies, employment and in contributing to their communities.

The successful candidate will have extensive teaching and teacher development experience, proven management skills in an education setting and will be skilled in mentoring middle managers.
