Job overview

Head of Design Technology

We are looking to appoint a well qualified, enthusiastic, part-time (0.35) Head of Design Technology for this academically selective school from 1 September 2020.  The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Design Technology and ICT.  They will also play a key role in the design of our new Design Technology suite, which is due for completion during 2020-21.

Design Technology is taught as part of our Digital Learning and Technology course, which encourages girls to be expressive and imaginative, to solve problems and to develop their creative abilities.  Current options in Digital Learning and Technology include Food Technology, Electronics, Textiles, Film Making, Computing and ICT.

Each year, several girls are awarded Arkwright Scholarships and a team of Sixth Form students participate in the Engineering Education Scheme.

The successful candidate will have specific responsibility for overseeing the development of Electronics, Engineering and DT.

We have a Head of Digital Learning who oversees this aspect of the curriculum and a member of staff with responsibility for Food Technology in the School.

There is a well-equipped Food Technology room, an ICT room with 26 computers and various laptops and chrome books for more flexible use. It is envisaged that there will be a state of the art IT room in the new DT Block.
