Job overview
Head of Drama, Hall School Wimbledon
September 2023 (or April 2023)
Hall School Wimbledon, a vibrant and proudly non-selective, co-educational day school, is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and inspirational Head of Drama for September 2023 or sooner.
This is an outstanding opportunity to bring new ideas and drive to an important department at our creative and vibrant school. The successful candidate will possess an excellent degree in Drama and be able to demonstrate both the ability and the passion to teach this important subject up to GCSE and potentially A Level. We are looking for someone who has passion and creative flair, committed to raising the profile of Drama across the school, including producing an annual whole school production and/or regular smaller Drama reviews and recitals.
We are defined by our outstanding pastoral care here at HSW, and our desire to tailor our teaching to meet the needs of every individual. We have small classes of 12-15 pupils with a wide range of ability. Our staff are highly supportive and caring. Subject expertise is fundamental, but we are also looking for someone who is approachable, creative and fun.
Applications are warmly invited from candidates for whom this is their first head of department position, as well as from more experienced subject leaders. The department is small (a department of one), so the appointee will have the opportunity to bring their own creative ideas and vision. Our pupils are happy, creative and enthusiastic.
Salary: Competitive (school's own scale)
The deadline for applications is 5.00pm on Friday 3rd February 2023.
Interviews will be held week commencing 6th February 2023
Please send a completed HSW application form to our Business Manager, Niamh Guerin, at businessmanager@hsw.co.uk, to whom all initial enquiries may be directed.
Hall School Wimbledon is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff to share this commitment.
