Job overview

This is an important appointment for the school and we are keen to appoint a candidate of the highest calibre who will be able to make a significant contribution both to the management and development of the Drama Department and to the school as a whole. There is a strong tradition of drama and musical performance in the school.

We are looking for someone who is:

• passionate about high quality teaching and learning

• committed to Drama for all

• offers inspirational and caring guidance for young people

• works collaboratively, asks questions and is keen to learn.

The staff in the Drama department enjoy their work and strive to deliver interesting and stimulating lessons. There is a supportive climate in which there is much cooperation, resulting in detailed schemes of work and excellent resources.  The teaching allocation will include Drama at Key Stages 3-4. Theatre Studies at A-Level is always offered to Sixth Form students and often runs as an A-Level course.

Investors in People Report, states it is "a great place to work" where “leaders lead by example and are trusted by people and are passionate about doing their best for the school”.

Regular professional development opportunities are offered.

Nursery on site with reduced rates for staff.

The school has been highly sought-after for many years, with very high levels of interest again for September 2021. This is due to a wide range of factors including its facilities, academic results, standards of teaching, pastoral care, the wide range of trips and extra-curricular activities and the resultant attitudes of its pupils.

In its January 2019 visit, Ofsted commented that “Pupils’ attitudes towards learning are very positive. Pupils are attentive and responsive in equal measure in lessons. As a result, there is a very harmonious learning atmosphere".

We hope that after considering all the information provided, you will decide to make an application.  The closing date is 08:00am Monday 24th May 2021. Please be advised that we may interview as applications come in.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted shortly after the closing date. Whatever the outcome of your application we thank you for the interest you have shown and wish you well in your future career.
