Job overview

At Hull City Council we are committed to our children and young people and are passionate about how we deliver our services.  That is why we are developing and nurturing a culture that puts children and young people at the heart of everything we do, by empowering our workforce to work together to find solutions, to be honest and respectful, to take responsibility and listen and learn from others. Hull is a changing local authority and it is a fantastic time to join us and play a significant role in driving forward our journey.

Hull has 13 mainstream secondary schools, all of which are academies (11 MATs & SATs in total). 3 are currently rated as ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED, 5 as ‘Good’, with the remaining 5 as ‘Requires Improvement’.

Our City’s Education Protocol sets out 2 agreed ambitions:

Ambition 1 - All children and young people should be able to learn and develop in a provision that has been judged to be ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’.

Ambition 2 - In the key indicators of achievement and attendance in Hull, we will close the gap and then aim to exceed national figures.

In this position you will be responsible for leading on the engagement with all partners in support of improving outcomes for children and young people in the City of Hull as part of the wider agendas for culture, employability and safeguarding in education settings, with particular reference to the 11-19 age group.

You will have a responsibility to promote and maintain the highest quality professional partnerships in order to improve the outcomes for all children and young people in the City of Hull in line with the statutory duties and responsibilities of the local authority for Education provision and standards.

This role is critical in the delivery of the Council and Learning Partnership Education Protocol and strategic city plans in close partnership with schools, services and providers.

You will be responsible for ensuring that provision for Children in Care via the Virtual School is of a high quality and that it delivers the best possible outcomes for learners.

You must have extensive successful experience at a management level within secondary education and experience of successful partnership delivery.
