Head of English (SEN).

Tes is currently supporting a friendly and supportive SEN School, based in Stockport. The school are looking to add a Head of English to their progressive and supportive School.  Ideally starting ASAP.

The role will include securing high-quality teaching across all Key Stages, effective use of resources and improving standards of learning and achievement for all pupils in consultation with the Head Teacher. Contributing to the development and/or implementation of English policy and procedure.  You will have lead responsibility for reading across the school and reading interventions.  Teaching a range of subjects as necessary to ensure the effective delivery of the school’s curriculum. Work may sometimes be undertaken outside the main teaching area - this may include off-site locations including college settings.

"This is an independent specialist day school for boys and girls aged from 5 to 18, catering for children with social-emotional and mental health difficulties, with a high proportion of children who have a diagnosis of ASC.  Their dedicated team work together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life. 

They pride themselves in steering children in the right direction, nurturing aspiration to progress them both academically and socially to encourage them to take pride in their achievements. Socially, they build confidence in our students so they are able to have a greater understanding of the wider community in which they live."

The school expects:

• A UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE, SCITT, BEd or MEd with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• A relevant English Degree or a related subject

• Experience in delivering English up to GCSE/A-level pushing and engaging learners to progress within the subject

• A love and passion for education.
