Job overview

Flexible working pattern

We are looking for an experienced and articulate commercial events manager to join our team. Over the last few years, we have successfully grown a respected events business, known as Marden Enterprises, with a strong reputation – but we want to take it even further. We occupy a truly unique site, within easy reach of London but situated in 700 acres of beautiful Surrey countryside. The prospects for growth are genuinely exciting.

Our new Head of Events will build on our existing programme of events. These range from stunning weddings to residential programmes for partner organisations from around the world. Thanks to proactive marketing, our events calendar for 2019 is largely in place and we are fortunate to be planning next year’s programme in detail with a varied client base. However, the opportunity for long-term innovation is considerable and we are looking for someone who is both creative and self-motivated to bring fresh ideas to the team.

About you

You will be an experienced events manager with excellent relationship management skills and genuine commercial nous as well as a sincere empathy for the values and ethos of the wider school. The role also represents a tremendous opportunity for someone who values a flexible working pattern – the business is cyclical by nature, with an energetic peak in the summer months. We are therefore looking at a more agile approach to resourcing – the timing of this appointment is designed to allow the new job holder to be fully involved in planning and implementing our resourcing approach.

Woldingham is a happy and successful Catholic boarding and day school for girls aged 11 to 18 and is firmly established as one of the top girls’ independent schools in the UK, outperforming many schools that are far more selective in their admissions process. Central to this achievement are Woldingham’s academic enrichment and extra-curricular programmes, pastoral support and caring community. Close to London, yet in a unique rural setting, Woldingham has a strong community and culture building on a proud heritage that stretches back over 175 years. We are committed to an exciting future that is underpinned by fresh ideas, an innovative spirit and state-of-the-art facilities.

Salary: Competitive. All staff receive free lunches and refreshments.

Please visit our website to download an application form by clicking the apply button. Once completed, return it to hr@woldinghamschool.co.uk no later than 9am on Friday 14 December 2018. Interviews will be held in early January 2019.

Woldingham School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS report will be required for the successful candidate.

Professional development and staff welfare

Our professional team of staff is Woldingham’s greatest asset, and we want to ensure that everyone is supported to work in an effective, enjoyable and fulfilling way. Staff Development is a high priority, with induction and mentoring programmes for Newly Qualified Teachers and new colleagues, plus an annual cycle of Personal Professional Development planning for all colleagues.

Staff are welcome to use our range of outstanding facilities including the gym, squash and tennis courts and the swimming pool. Our Staffroom Committee organises regular social events, and individual members of staff have organised yoga classes and reflexology on site.
