Job overview

We are looking for an outstanding Head of Faculty and teacher of Maths, with the ambition to take on the key leadership role as Head of Faculty for Maths, IT and Computing.  As a specialist 16-19 Sixth Form College we can offer an exciting opportunity to specialise in Post 16 delivery and leadership of these key STEM subjects.  The college is part of Inspire Trust, which also includes Oakwood High School and Sitwell Junior School.  

Thomas Rotherham College provides high quality A-level, Applied General and Level 2 courses to over 1400 students.  The Maths department achieves excellent results, with Level 3 VA scores for A-level Maths last year significantly above national averages.  We have also seen pass rates of over 60% for GCSE Maths resits.  The college has great success in offering Further Maths and there is a commitment to introduce a 1-year Core Maths qualification for students in 2019-20.  The faculty also offers a very successful BTEC IT diploma to over 150 students as well as 4 classes of A-level Computing.  

The successful candidate will be dedicated to supporting all students within the faculty.  They will have high expectations and a growth mindset for students, themselves and the wider faculty team.  Candidates will be able to demonstrate experience of getting the best out of students, both in lessons and through the setting of challenging and engaging independent study.  They will also demonstrate an interest in and a commitment to whole-college improvement as part of the Head of Faculty team.  

The position represents an ideal stepping stone for a candidate looking to move on to a senior leadership role in future.  As a college, we are committed to continuous professional development and provide a bespoke senior middle-leader programme for all Heads of Faculty which the successful candidate will join.
