The Board of Frensham Schools seeks to appoint the Schools’ next Head from 2021, following the announcement that Julie Gillick is retiring after twenty years of inspiring and visionary leadership.

Set on over 100 hectares in the NSW Southern Highlands, the beautiful grounds and buildings of our three campuses provide a superb backdrop for a progressive and personalised approach that values academic excellence as part of a rounded education. Frensham offers an exceptional boarding experience for 360 girls. This is complemented by Gib Gate, our stand-alone co-educational primary school for 150 students, and Sturt, our centre of excellence in Arts, Design and Fabrication. Founded on Christian principles, the schools are non-denominational.

Our next Head will forge strong relationships across our community, leading our rigorous and innovative education programs, while continuing the rich traditions for which Frensham Schools is known. Students and staff will flourish in an environment that encourages personal growth and service to others.

Frensham is an independent, Christian secondary school for girls in Mittagong, New South Wales. As a boarding school, Frensham offers options for full boarding, weekly boarding and day boarding.

The school opened on 17 July 1913 with three girls and five mistresses. It was founded by Winifred West, who named the school after the village in which she was born: Frensham in Surrey, England. West led the school as headmistress for its first 25 years; it survived economic hardship, the First World War, the Great Depression and devastating bushfires.

Facilities

Frensham campus covers 178 hectares. It has a modern science and technology centre, performing and visual arts facilities, a gymnasium and an indoor swimming pool.

For outdoor pursuits, the school has tennis courts, gardens, jogging tracks and bush areas, along with extensive games fields including hockey and netball.

Curriculum

Each student’s academic needs are assessed on entry and are monitored to ensure full academic potential. Progress and achievement are regularly reviewed, with accelerated or additional studies programmed according to individual need.

English is studied each year and, from Year 8, students begin choosing elective subjects. Along with traditional subjects such as science and maths, students can choose to study Latin, Japanese, agricultural technology and visual arts.

School ethos

Frensham’s values are based on the notion that the moral purpose in life is to develop personal talents and use them for the common good, and to make a contribution to the world. The school motto is "In love serve one another".
