Job overview

We are looking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Head of Geography to join our Academy and to take our successful humanities department to its next stage of development. This is suitable for an innovative and passionate teacher looking to take the first steps into leadership in a small faculty who demonstrates the potential to take on a leadership role quickly - Training and support will be provided. You will be successful in securing the highest standards of Teaching and Learning, implementing new systems and developing the curriculum with a priority to improve results.

A passion for your subject as well as a desire to make a difference are essential. 

We believe that our Heads of Department have a pivotal role in inspiring and challenging pupils of every ability in every year to raise their academic standards, in promoting their confidence and self-esteem, and in securing year on year improving GCSE results.

We are looking for suitably qualified and motivated persons who will, under the supervision and guidance of School Leaders:

• Provide outstanding teaching to create a vibrant and distinctive culture for learning for young people in your subject. 

• Plan and execute a diverse programme that meets individual learner needs.

• Ensure all our students are able to thrive and engage in both academic and vocational learning to achieve above and beyond their highest potential whilst developing personal and employability skills. 

The ideal candidate will: 

• Be a qualified Geography teacher 

• Have a record of successful teaching or teaching practice

• Hold a minimum qualification of honours degree with QTS

• Have a proven track record of engaging, inspiring and challenging pupils across all Key Stages

• Have experience in delivering lessons in line with the academic expectations of the school

• Have a willingness to support extra-curricular provision and fixtures 

• Have experience in running residential trips abroad (desirable)
